Friday, December 17th - Becoming More Simple

Writer's picture: Becoming MoreBecoming More

Can you believe we are just one week away from Christmas Eve!? This holiday season has flown by! The Christmas season is meant to be a time of slowing down and spending time with family as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. The problem is that doesn’t always seem to be what happens.

Each year when the holidays approach it’s like we all go into busy mode. We have a huge list of people we must buy Christmas presents for. Then not only do we have to buy the presents, but we must wrap them and top them off with a bow. We have the school functions we must take our kids to, the work parties you and your significant other have to attend along with the church gatherings, and the list goes on. Before you know it, Christmas has passed and you’re just thankful for some space and time to breathe.

Why do we do this to ourselves year after year? We make ourselves crazy by “having” to do all the things and then wish we had taken more time for ourselves or our families afterwards. And then we just turn around and do the same thing next year. But what is this Christmas we decided would become more simple? What if we prioritized our sanity and our family’s sanity and paused, reflected, and spent time celebrating the true meaning of Christmas – the coming of Christ!

How are you becoming more simple this Christmas? What are some ways you can encourage us to live this out this Christmas? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
