This week we are looking at becoming more simple. Minimalism and simplicity are frequently used buzz words in culture, but this week we are going to take a different perspective.
Today we want to look at becoming more simple in our thoughts. I don’t know about you, but the majority of the time my thoughts are anything but simple. I overanalyze and overthink the smallest thing. For example, if I run into someone I know in the coffee shop, I’ll say hi and try to create some small talk. When we part, I’ll think about everything I said, everything I should not have said, and everything I should have said. Can you relate?
I can get so caught up in the craziness and the complexity of my unbridled thoughts that I begin to miss what’s around me. You’re probably thinking, “Yes, me too, but how do I control my thoughts and simplify them?” What really helps my thoughts become more simple is breath prayers. Breath prayers ease my racing mind, calm anxiety, and help create peace in and around me.
The next time you find your thoughts racing, jumping from one thing to another, try this breath prayer exercise-
Breathe in – “I breathe in Your peace.” Breathe out – “I exhale my worry.”
What breath prayers have worked for you in the past? We’d love to hear them in the comments!
