“So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth.” 1 Samuel 19:23 (NIV)
God used people in David’s life to protect him from the murderous plots and schemes of Saul. But God also sent His own Spirit to do battle on David’s behalf. When you are under attack, what’s your typical response?
David didn’t have to fight back, defend himself, or seek revenge on his enemy because he was certain. He wasn’t certain in his own ability to defeat his enemies; he was certain of God’s protection and faithfulness. God protected David many times, and David knew God could be trusted to protect him now and bring about all He had promised.
Sometimes God’s protection comes in the form of others helping us and working on God’s behalf in our lives, and other times God intervenes directly and protects us Himself.
