Thursday, March 25th - Becoming More Reflective

Grab a piece of paper or your journal and a pen. I want you to think about a person in your life who has shown a true reflection of God. Maybe this person is still in your life today or maybe they have made their transition to Heaven. Perhaps they were only in your life for a season and you’ve lost touch, but the impact they left remains.

The person that comes to my mind is my Nana. It’s been a little over two years since her passing, but the reflection of God in her is still imprinted on my heart and mind. My Nana reminded me of the woman described in Proverbs 31 and she made it look easy. As I’ve gotten older, I know the struggles she faced and how those struggles could have knocked her down. Yet, even in trials, reflecting the image of God was always at the forefront of her mind.

This isn’t to say my Nana or the person you wrote down didn’t have flaws - we’re humans who were born into a sinful nature. But with The Holy Spirit leading the way, rather than following our personal desires, we still have the ability to reflect God.

Go back to your paper or journal and as you keep in mind the person you wrote down, look at the list of Godly attributes in the graphic above. Which of these attributes describes the person you wrote down?

Now, look at the same list of attributes and write down the ones you desire to reflect. Which attributes are challenging during this season of life? Why are those attributes a struggle right now? Ask God to meet you where you are. Lean into Him to provide you the strength and to make a way to better reflect Him.
