Thursday, November 4th - Becoming More Mature
Can you look at someone and know if they are spiritually mature? What do you expect to see? Are you looking for a cross necklace, a Christian t-shirt, a sticker with the logo of their church in the back window of their car? Will you find them in the cool Christian coffee shop reading their bible or leading a small group in the early mornings at Chick-fil-A? How do you know if someone is spiritually mature?
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” - Galatians 5:22-25
Want a sign that someone is growing in maturity? Look for the fruits of the Spirit in their life. Want those fruits in your life? Nail your selfish passions and desires to the cross of Christ and crucify them there. Live by the Spirit and follow His leading in every area of your life. It’s only through surrender to the Spirit that His fruit will be produced in your life. The fruit that is produced is not just for you, but for others to experience as they encounter you.
Which fruit of the Spirit is God growing in your life right now?
