Thursday, September 2nd - Becoming More Whole

God often has a different view of wholeness than we do. We often look around us and think we need all of this “stuff” to make us whole. We say we need this or that to feel whole when in reality, God has already provided us with everything we need in Him. Sometimes we struggle with the simple act of letting go.

Part of being whole includes letting go. Often times we limit ourselves based on our past. We let things that have happened to us or things people have said about us take hold of us. And we ourselves hold onto anger, resentment, bitterness, jealousy, sadness, grief, worry, and the list goes on. Or maybe it’s pride, greed, selfishness, doubt, or fear.

Sometimes we get so used to living with these things that we don’t know how to live without them. We unknowingly cling to our past pains, hurts, or feelings because we know them, and the fear of the unknown without them seems more intimidating than living with them.

But God has more for us.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:18-19

God wants to do a new thing in you. He wants you to forget the former things; not to dwell on the past. He is making a way where in a situation that doesn’t seem possible – a way towards wholeness in Him. Do you not perceive it?

What is God calling you to let go of today?
