“When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” Acts 16:7 (NIV)
At the time, Paul was trying to spread the Gospel to the people of Asia. This was uncharted territory- the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection hadn’t yet spread to this area. He was doing God’s work! Yet even though he was trying to do a good thing, he got blocked not once, but twice on his journey.
It’s easy to be shaken when we experience limitations as we do the work God has called us to. When we are certain of the destination God has for us, it’s unsettling when roadblocks pop up. These limitations can cause us to doubt our calling and God’s direction and make us second guess our ability to clearly hear God’s voice.
When God gives us limits, He will give us a way through or a way around. Before we give up or keep barreling through, let’s ask God to reveal our next steps so we can discern if this is a limit to receive or a limit to breakthrough.
