“But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.” Psalm 55:23 (NIV)
“But as for me, I trust in you.”
In Psalm 55, we see David moving through the stages of grief and betrayal. Notice where he ends the psalm:
He brings his hurt and pain to God.
He is honest about his desire for justice and expresses his anger.
He trusts God and affirms His faithfulness.
When you have experienced betrayal where do you find yourself emotionally? Are you stuck in the pain and hurt, cycling through feelings of grief, regret, and blame? Have you moved to anger and resentment? Have you brought those feelings fully to the Father or are you keeping them walled up inside? Have you given your pain and anger to God, certain of His faithfulness? Do you trust God to bring justice where there is injustice? How would you describe yourself in times when you have experienced betrayal?
